AI-assisted reporting needs accountable judgement
Use AI to help prepare information while keeping the source, decision and approval clear.
Begin with maintained project records
A reporting draft is only as useful as the records behind it. Milestones, risks, decisions, costs and actions need current owners and updates. Missing information and conflicting reports should remain visible; a fluent paragraph does not resolve either problem.
Separate a suggestion from an approved record
A proposed risk, action or status explanation needs review by someone with the context and authority to judge it. Keep the source information available and distinguish an AI suggestion from an accepted project record throughout the review process.
Review business meaning, not only grammar
Check whether the draft reflects the actual commitment, the latest forecast and the consequence for the business. Confirm names, dates, ownership, financial values and dependencies against the underlying records. A well-written summary can still be materially wrong.
Respect access and confidentiality
Project information should only be used in tools and workflows approved for the organisation and the information involved. Restricted transaction work, personal information and sensitive commercial material require the access and handling arrangements agreed with the business.
Keep ownership after publication
The person approving a report remains responsible for the judgement it communicates. Approved changes should be reflected in the controlled project records, with the decision and ownership retained. These principles inform the project and portfolio platform Battlehill is developing; the platform is not currently available for purchase.
