Customer context
The acquisition technology programme covered a substantial store and device estate. Its delivery commitments connected acquisition milestones with store change, technology readiness, supplier work, cutover and handover. Customer identity is confidential.
The delivery challenge
Transaction commitments and technology delivery had to move together. A commercial milestone did not, by itself, establish that stores, systems and support arrangements were ready. The leadership requirement was to connect those commitments to operational readiness across the programme.

What the team did
Integrate transaction and technology planning
We connected acquisition milestones with store-change activity, technology readiness and supplier commitments. The integrated plan and dependency view formed the basis for coordinating the transition.
Coordinate readiness across the estate
The leadership focus joined readiness with the delivery plan across approximately 1,400 stores and 10,000 devices. We treated supplier commitments as part of the operational transition rather than as isolated contract milestones.
Connect cutover and handover
Cutover and handover remained within the programme responsibility. This maintained the connection between the transaction plan, the technology changes required and the arrangements needed for ongoing operation.
Keeping the programme on track
- Integrated plan
- Transaction milestones, store change and technology activity connected in one delivery view.
- Supplier commitments
- Partner activity related to readiness and cutover dependencies.
- Operational transition
- Readiness, cutover and handover considered together across the affected estate.
What changed
- Technology aligned to the deal
- We connected transaction milestones and technology commitments to operational readiness across the £90m programme.
- Stores ready at handover
- We sequenced store change, suppliers and technology transition against the acquisition timetable.
- A planned handover
- We treated technology transition and handover as delivery scope, not an afterthought.
Outcomes describe the delivery result achieved on the programme. How we describe our delivery experience.
How this helped the customer
We connected transaction and technology commitments to operational readiness. Delivery leadership kept the acquisition programme aligned with the practical work needed for technology transition and handover.
Facing a similar challenge?
When transaction dates and operational readiness must come together, the dependencies need active ownership across businesses and suppliers. Battlehill can coordinate the transition plan, readiness decisions, cutover and handover around the commitments your organisation must meet.
